Logan Canyon visitors have been going to Ricks Spring for generations.  The spring was discovered by Thomas E. Ricks, who served as a sheriff and county assessor.  Ricks Spring is both a spring and a diversion of the Logan River.  Many people used to stop by this spring and fill up their canteens or jugs but it turns out you don't want to do this because the water isn't safe.  The water that comes from this spring contains the microorganism, Giardia, which can cause intestinal problems.  So when you visit Ricks Springs don't take a drink even if you are tempted.
